Patch was given to us as an unruly horse at the age of 9. She was far from this teaching many people to ride. She loved children and didn't have a nasty bone in her body. She took my sister and I both from ponies she was our first hack.
She didn't like games that much but did them anyway. She was versitile in every way. Patch took us through area games, area dressage and area trials.
Lots of different people enjoyed her because of her loving nature, She would never bite, kick, buck rear, she was a horse with no vices.
She had 2 foals for us one is the Pintaloosa on this website Apache Jack, ( he was her last foal) she also had a plain bay filly called crystal clear who was a very keen showjumper in the horowhenua/manawatu.
Her pet hate was being caught!!! if no food she would clear every fence on the property thinking it was a great joke. Much to our disgust. She stopped this when she turned about 28 years old
She was a good nana to any horse on the property.
She was put to sleep today (18-05-2006). She was 35 years of age. She had arthritis and was finding life uncomfortable. Once lying down it would take her a very long time to get back on her feet.
We tried everything possible to make her more comfortable but nothing was working.
If was not fair to leave her in pain as she was a too nicer horse to have that happen to.
Hope you enjoy the photos of Patch.
