Jazzera - Rose to her friends.   Rose was bought at an auction in wanganui.   She was in disgusting state and i only really bought her as she had big honest frightened eyes and i felt sorry for her.   She was so weak when we loaded her onto the float she was flat holding her own weight.   Richard (hubby) actually lifted her back end off the ground loading her onto the float.   Her had received minimal handling.   Her halter had grown into her jaw, she was covered in rainscald, cuts and bruises.   she was also covered in lice and passed worms for 3 weeks.

She didn't know how to drink out of a trough or eat hard feed, but she knew how to eat hay.   We started by tipping her feed onto her hay, and once she got the taste she was away.   but now she is very agressive when it comes to feed, but you can't really blame her for that.

Once she started to put on weight she came down with dandelion (cats ear) poisoning which set her back about 6-8 months, The photos below were taken the day she arrived, (Sept 2003) and how she looks today (taken august 2006)

Take the time to have a look at the transformation, she is a changed girl, and we look forward to competing her this season 2006.

FYI- Rose has been broken in by Ashley herself, she has more trust in younger people than adults.
Rose and Ashley at Maymorn, This was their very first event.   They were about 2kms from home here on a 20km CTR Ride, she came in with a Heart Rate of 58 and dropped to 44.   Very good considering she hasn't done any hill work.   She Won the Junior CTR and Won the groomed turnout, a great day.
